The Boca Raton

The Boca Raton opened on February 6, 1926 as the one-hundred-room Ritz-Carlton Cloister Inn, designed by Boca Raton''s city planner and Mediterranean Revival architect Addison Mizner. The property reaches its centennial in 2026 and operates today as the only Forbes Quadruple Five-Star resort in The Americas. The resort organizes around five distinct hotels under one estate: the Forbes Five-Star Beach Club at the oceanfront; the Forbes Five-Star Yacht Club with waterfront suites; the Bungalows offering villa-style lodging; the contemporary Tower with modern suites; and the historic Cloister with original Mizner architecture. Guest-room counts published in third-party sources differ (Cvent reports 907; Wikipedia reports 1,047), reflecting different counting bases across the five hotels. Event space totals are reported in three different framings. The meetings page lists "60-plus meeting and event spaces, 97,000-plus total square feet, capacity ten to twelve hundred guests." Cvent compiles 81,668 square feet across ten named meeting rooms with the largest at 26,037 square feet and a property-wide ceiling of 2,700 standing or seated. Property-wide marketing references 200,000 square feet of meeting space, which appears to incorporate outdoor venues across the 200-plus waterfront acres. The Mizner Center, an 80,000-square-foot space described as the heart of the event landscape, is undergoing renovation with completion expected fall 2025. The Beach Club itself was reimagined and unveiled in December 2024. Ownership history runs Mizner Development Corp. and Ritz-Carlton (1926), Clarence H. Geist (1927), the Schine family (1944), Arvida (1969 onward), VMS Realty (1983), The Blackstone Group (2004), and Hilton''s Waldorf Astoria brand (2009 to July 2021). MSD Partners L.P., affiliated with Michael Dell, acquired the property in June 2019 and operated it under independent branding once the Hilton agreement ended. Spa Palmera and the Flybridge dining outlet hold their own Forbes Five-Star designations alongside the Beach Club and Yacht Club. Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL), a major international hub, sits roughly thirty to forty minutes by car. Palm Beach International (PBI) is comparable in distance to the north. Miami International (MIA) reaches the property within fifty to seventy minutes south. Tri-Rail commuter rail also serves Boca Raton.
