Eaglewood Resort & Spa sits on 102 wooded acres in Itasca, Illinois, roughly 12 miles from O'Hare International Airport (ORD). The site originated as Nordic Hills Country Club around 1925, with a Charles Maddox-designed 18-hole golf course opening in 1932. The current resort identity dates to 2002, when Denver-based Amstar built the main building and connecting wings around the original 1971 north and south guest-room towers and rebranded the property as Doral Eaglewood. Cvent records 2017 as the last comprehensive renovation pass. In August 2025, Chicago-based Arbor Lodging Partners acquired the resort for $28 million per DuPage County records reported by Crain's Chicago Business. The property carries certification from the International Association of Conference Centers (IACC) with 37 IACC-certified meeting rooms across 38,400 square feet of function space. Cvent lists 44 total meeting rooms when counting smaller breakouts and pre-function spaces. The largest combinable space is the Red Oak Ballroom (rooms A, B, and C combined), a Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired 7,031 sq ft hall with 24-foot ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the golf course. Component rooms run 3,560 sq ft (A), 1,760 sq ft (B), and 1,716 sq ft (C). Adjacent prefunction space (2,354 sq ft) supports up to 200 reception, and an outdoor Red Oak Patio (1,554 sq ft) supports up to 150 reception. Other notable spaces include the 6,480 sq ft covered Pavilion (theater 500 to 644, reception up to 300), the 2,774 sq ft Linden Ballroom (theater 252), the 2,090 sq ft Wisteria Rooftop Terrace (banquet 144, reception 200), the 1,750 sq ft Trillium Amphitheatre (75 capacity), and the 988 sq ft Burnham''s Private Dining (banquet 82, reception 120). The resort also offers boardroom-style spaces (Arrowhead, Lilac, Hollyhock) for groups of 25 or fewer. On-property dining covers four full outlets and a grab-and-go market: Prairie River Restaurant (made-from-scratch Midwest cuisine with golf course views and an outdoor fire pit), Burnham''s Restaurant (breakfast buffet and bar snacks), Prairie River Lounge, Ogden''s Lobby Bar (cocktails, wines, beers, small plates), and The Market (Peet''s Coffee, pastries, smoothies, hot and cold grab-and-go). Lodging is on-property only at 295 guest rooms; the conference-center model assumes attendees room on site. The closest commercial airport is O''Hare International Airport (ORD), an international hub with 84.8 million passengers in 2025 and nonstop service to 249 destinations as of summer 2024. The drive from O''Hare runs 11 to 12 miles. Chicago Midway International Airport (MDW), a domestic hub, is the alternate at roughly 28 miles southeast. Eaglewood holds Green Star certification displayed on its IACC profile, and is confirmed by the Illinois Public Pension Fund Association (IPPFA) as the host of its 2026 Heroes Holiday Gala on December 10, 2026.
