The Worthington Renaissance Fort Worth Hotel

The Worthington Renaissance Fort Worth Hotel opened on April 15, 1981, designed by David M. Schwarz Architects, as the first building of Sid Bass and Bass Brothers Enterprises''s Sundance Square redevelopment plan for downtown Fort Worth. It opened originally as the Americana Hotel; the Renaissance brand took over in the late 1990s and the property has carried the Renaissance flag since. In 2021 the property completed an $8 million 40th-anniversary renovation by DiamondRock Hospitality, again with David M. Schwarz Architects leading the design work, refreshing the public spaces, ballrooms, and guest-room corridors. The meeting program runs to 57,000 square feet across 18 named rooms. The largest is the Rio Grande Room at 12,600 square feet, which holds 1,200 reception. The Grand Ballroom adds 10,530 square feet with a maximum-guest figure of 1,400. The Trinity Ballroom carries another 5,400 square feet. An 11,000 square foot outdoor Terrace handles 300 cocktail or 500 ceremony, the kind of social-program flexibility that lets a multi-day program break out of the indoor footprint. Guest-room inventory is 504 rooms, large enough to be the entire host-block for a TEXPERS-scale program. Surrounding Sundance Square adds the Sheraton Fort Worth Downtown (~431 rooms), the Hilton Fort Worth (~294 rooms), and The Ashton (autograph collection, 39 rooms) within a five-minute walk for overflow. The TEXPERS (Texas Association of Public Employee Retirement Systems) 32nd Annual Conference ran here April 3 to 6, 2022, the first in-person Annual after the 2020 pandemic cancellation. TEXPERS''s post-event coverage reported nearly 530 general-session attendees, theme "Powering Up Pensions." The closest commercial airport is Dallas/Fort Worth International (DFW), 25 to 35 minutes by car, an international hub. Dallas Love Field (DAL), a domestic hub, runs roughly 40 minutes. The TEX Rail commuter line connects DFW directly to downtown Fort Worth''s T&P station, four blocks from the property.
